Here is another example of how to build an Alumawood patio cover. Make your patio cover solid to lattice on the projection. You can use the rafters to support the solid and add a little lattice at then end for style.

Alumawood on a wooden deck
Here is another great advantage to Alumawood products. This wooden deck is huge and because of the light weight of Alumawood it is possible to build a shade to cover this huge wooden deck. This patio has all 3x8 rafters instead of the standard 2x6 that is used on most patios. This is truly a one of a kind patio, but hopefully will give others ideas of what is possible with Alumawood.

Aesthetics with Alumawood
On this patio the wrap color and roof color are different. Also the 2x6 rafters under the roof are an upgrade to the cover but really makes the patio unique. Food for thought. The upgrade should be only a few hundred more but cheaper then columns. The rafters can be installed after the patio is already been built. To install just mount brackets opposite each other and notch each end of 2x6 to slide over bracket and into place.
